The latest fashion trends straight from the catwalk and how you can implement them into your wardrobe using pieces from the high street.
I wouldn’t call myself a slave to fashion. In fact most of the latest crazes I ignore altogether. The thought of wearing something I thought looked silly or felt uncomfortable in just because it was the in-thing seems bizarre to me. I no longer feel the need to conform with my peers and will only wear stuff I truly like. As I’ve gotten older I have become more experimental in what I wear and always looking for suggestions in how I can update my wardrobe. I like to know what the latest fashion is and decide from there if it compliments my style. I ask myself do I really like this piece? Will I get a lot of wear out of it? If the answers no, I stay away.
Of the latest fashion trends I find these 6 to be the most wearable and I believe will be the most popular.
First off is oversized bags. Unlike tops you can wear a bag everyday so the cost per wear is always much lower, making it a great excuse to splash out on a new one. Having an update to date bag can make your outfit look trendy everyday and really dress up an outfit. Here are some of my favourite ones.
Metal Ring Tote Bag- £35 Accessorize
Black Studded Oversized Slouch Chain Bag- £38 River Island
Khaki Zip Side Tote Bag- £25.99 New Look
Calvin Klein Large Tote Bag– £135 ASOS
Next up is a trend for the bold: wearing red. Now, before you panic, you don’t have to walk around like a Teletubby to look hot this season. Just a few statement pieces will do the trick. I’ve narrowed down my favourite red items for this autumn.
Taima Red Check A Line Mini Skirt- £15 Pretty Little Thing
Red Croc Embossed Double Ring Buckle Belt- £14 River Island
Georgina Suedette Biker Jacket- £45 Boohoo
Red Ankle Strap Sandal- £10 Primark
Bring on the bling! Sparkly, shiny, metallic silver boots are a hot topic this season and I can’t wait to purchase my own pair. They look great with dark denim or paired with black tights. Here’s my shortlist.
Silver Kitten Heel Zip Boots- £42 Next
Grey Pointed Toe Glitter Block Heel Boots- £45 River Island
Amos High Cut Western Chelsea Boots Pewter Lizard Leather- £90 Office
Faith Silver Glitter Bling High Block Heel Ankle Boots- £39.20 Debenhams
You know autumn is here when you start seeing velvet and corduroy everywhere. They are the it materials for the colder months, with this year being no exception. From jackets to bags, nothing is off limits. Here’s my favourite pieces.
Black Cord Skirt- £8 Primark
Washed Pink Cord Shift Dress– £35 ASOS
Rust Corduroy Mini Skirt- £16 Forever 21
BDG Corduroy Mini Backpack- £34 Urban Outfitters
Textures textures textures! It’s all about the materials this season. One major trend is fur. I love faux fur, I think it looks so glamorous and elegant. It also keeps you lovely and warm when the cold weather hits. Whether you’re looking to invest in a furry coat or update your accessories with some fur pieces, I’ve rounded up my top choices for the autumn.
Grey Faux Fur Gilet- £29.99 New Look
ALDO Moraine Faux Fur Cross Body Bag– £45 ASOS
Grey Fur Stole- £8 Primark
Leopard Faux Fur Jacket- £79.99 H&M
Skinnydip Candy Pom Bag Charm– £8 ASOS
Eva Faux Fur Coat- £55 Boohoo
You don’t gotta go to work to rock this look. Blazers and power suits are a hot subject this autumn. These are my favourite ones to create that perfect tailored look.
Grey Tailored Jacket- £25 Primark
Black Cropped Blazer – £60 River Island
I hope you found some inspiration to update your wardrobe. I think autumn is the best time of year for fashion and always look forward to seeing what the new trends are and I know many of you will do too.
