With the bitter cold winds and the early morning frost, the thought of longer days and sunny skies seem far away. It’s literally two weeks away from March and I’m more than ready for the new season. As I happily kiss goodbye to winter, I want to start injecting some spring into my beauty routine.
For me spring is switching up the dark neutrals to light brights. When I think of a spring colour palette I picture water flowing in the streams and fields full of freshly blossomed flowers. The first transition into spring for me is changing my base. By now I’m fed up of matte foundation and seek a more dewy complexion. This Glamglow Glowstarter is the perfect moisturiser for a radiant glow. Not only does it hydrate but it has added illuminating pearl particles to give the skin a luminous finish.
With the new season I find myself being drawn to fresh, floral scents. I want a light airy fragrance that’s not too overpowering but imitates the budding garden outside. The Marc Jacobs’ Daisy perfume is my first choice for a refreshing daytime spritz.
A flush of pink adds colour and vibrancy to the face. It’s the perfect step for moving away from winter to the colourful hues of spring. As my love and passion for make up is growing, I’m becoming more fond of using blush. I recently purchased the Zoeva Pink Spectrum Blush Palette which features four different shades of pink so I can be as rosy as I desire. The blushes allow for a buildable pigmentation and are fast becoming a staple in my make up routine.
Along with rosy cheeks, I like to sport pink glossy lips. An old favourite of mine is this Rimmel Lipstick from the Kate Moss collection. It’s a gorgeous statement pink in the shade 28. As my lips are still dry and cracked from the cold, I always layer a lip balm on top, which gives my lips a nice shine.
I don’t typically abide by fashion trends but I like to update my nail colours according to the season. It seems unusual for me to wear darker shades in spring and I like to reserve them for when Autumn comes back around. Bright colours and pastels are my go to this time of year and can add vibrancy to an outfit. The Nails Inc polish in the shade Abbey Road is ultimate paint for spring.
The last touch of spring I’m going to add to my beauty routine is a pop of colour on my eyes. Since I was given Marc Jacobs’ Highliners from Influenster (review here), I’ve been inclined to use more colours in my make up and step away from the bland nudes. This Highliner in Deja Blue is a beautiful bright pastel that brightens and draws attention to my own blue eyes.
Those are the touches of spring I’m adding to my beauty routine, what are yours? Let me know in the comments. I hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for reading XOXO.
